About Us

Encore Reclamation is a family run business, located in a thriving artists’ community in the former Spratts dog biscuit factory, in the heart of London’s East End. My wife and I founded the company when, after years of using contacts in a demolition business to source old pine and oak flooring for friends and family, who wanted something more substantive and sustainable than new laminate wood flooring, we realised that this service may be of use to many other people as well.

How we can help you
We believe there is truth to the old saying, “They don’t make them like they used to.” With this in mind, we aim to make your quest in sourcing reclaimed building materials for your home or business as fast, fun and financially viable as we possibly can.

Upcycling
We also understand that you want your house to have original, and interesting, features. Most of us love to find something unique and interesting in our homes; that eye catching curiosity which becomes a conversation piece whenever friends visit. This ideal was the inspiration behind the upcycling aspect of Encore Reclamation, and this has proved to be the fastest growing and most popular part of our business. The very nature of our upcycling business demands vision (and more than a bit of inspiration) to achieve designs that will transform salvaged materials, which can be hundreds of years old, into beautiful, unique and useful additions to any home.  Luckily, vision and inspiration are not in short supply in our unique setting. Some of the most famous artists in the world can often be found visiting the art foundry on our site. Many have become friends who pop into our unit for the Italian coffee that we often have brewing on our stove, and it is these visits that have led to the incarnation of some of our most innovative work. A recent example of this was when Richard, our joiner, was working on a coat holder made from a beautiful stained glass window, salvaged from the main entrance of the Norfolk Hotel in Kent. As a resident artist, Paula Aspin, walked by, she commented that the piece would look great above a bed instead, perhaps with the addition of candle holders. As you may guess, the 6 foot long coat holder was never made, but we did on that occasion produce a beautiful objet d’art to place above a bed.

We hope that you find Encore Reclamation a useful site for the authentic restoration of your period property, a place to find that special unique piece for your modern home or business, or just a fun little spot on the internet to visit.
